The U.S. Election, the Economy & Iraq

Comparing the two videos:  Obama’s "yes we can" to McCain "Audacity of Despair" was very revealing – McCain’s tag line: "Like Hope, but Different" was hysterical.  Truthfully though, while I thought that the McCain parody video above was pretty funny, the reality of ‘100 years of war’ is Not a joke, esp. not to people who are killed in such actions.  You can check out additional information re: the cost of the Iraqi occupation at:  http://lessjobsmorewars.com/
Another diary:  The Only Issue is (Still) Iraq – discusses how "health care," "mortgage crisis," "rising gas costs," "the environment," and "taxes" all are connected to the quagmire known as Iraq.

The “War on Greed” or Why I Support John Edwards

Tue Jan 22, 2008 at 07:43:02 PM PDT

The latest Robert Greenwald documentary:  http://warongreed.org/ is a must see video.

A CEO, being paid $51,000/hour is taxed at a lesser rate (percentage wise) than a "worker bee" earning less than $50,000/year. Corporate loopholes, wealth transfers – ‘Reverse Robin Hood’: where money from the poor & middle class is given to the super rich -- etc., combined with Bush’s give-away of our national resources to corporate cronies all contribute to the bankrupting of this nation.

The primary reason I support John Edwards is that he fights passionately for the dignity / rights of workers and against entrenched corporate interest.

Reject Bush Miami: Dissent Difficulties--Update

Thu Apr 26, 2007 at 01:25:02 AM PDT

George W. Bush will be speaking at the Miami-Dade Community College graduation at the Kendall Campus on April 28th at 3pm.  Ironically, April 28th has been designated National Impeachment Day and thousands of Floridians from across the state will be staging an "unwelcoming party"—see:  rejectbushmiami.com to declare: "we the people, reject the Bush agenda of endless wars:  IMPEACH Bush and Cheney NOW!!!"

Unfortunately, the progressive/peace groups planning to protest Bush's April 28 Miami Commencement Address have run into difficulty...

Global Warming Concert, Renting Solar Panels

Wed Mar 28, 2007 at 01:20:35 PM PDT

In light of all the news regarding the effects of global warming, see:
Cities at Risk of Rising Sea Levels, Polar Bear SOS,etc. it is simply outrageous that the Senate GOP Says No to Al Gore-Global Warming Concert at Capitol

Note that the concert won't cost taxpayers anything, since Live Earth and the Alliance for Climate Protection will reimburse the Capitol Police for the cost of security during the concert.

Below is a web site re: renting solar panels which will enable individuals the chance to adopt green energy without an enourmous initial investment.

BushCo. & GOP = Yea, for Torture!!!

Doesn't 'The buck stops with Lynndie'?  Apparently not, according to the 90 senators who voted overwhelmingly (90-9) to stand solidly against torture.

"The amendment, introduced by Senator John McCain (R-AZ), calls for prisoners and detainees to be treated according to guidelines established by the Army Field Manual. In short, it outlaws degrading and inhumane treatment of anyone in U.S. military custody".

Protest idea (during Bush commencement speech), please pass it on.

Tue Apr 26, 2005 at 09:31:03 PM PDT

According to Jeff Feldman of Frameshop: "In the age of 24-hour cable media, it is far more effective to think of a protest in terms of one person's picture reproduced a million times in the media, than to think of a protest in terms of a picture of one million people shown only once in the media".

Using the so called 'Pink Slip' demonstration as a model, I came up with a 'Help Wanted' Ad protest. It's available on my blog'Help Wanted'Protest Ideas.

It would be wonderful if we could use this idea and organize an anti-war protest during Bush's commencement addresses.  See: this diary.
