Richard Branson / Jim Jones - separated at birth?

Wed Mar 26, 2008 at 09:09:01 PM PDT

So they were drinking pinot grigio, not Kool-Aid.  And the locale wasn't Jonestown Guyana but Necker Island, Branson's "private getaway" between Tortola and Anegada.  The guest list wasn't social misfits from Frisco but among other luminaries, Tony Blair, William McDonough, Larry Page and Paul Allen.
Richard Branson had invited them.  And he would ask: "So, do we really think the world is on fire?"   And they would reply: "Yes, the planet is on fire."

There is a lot of drivel in the press about the Cult of Obama. Crooks and Liars has part of the story.

I don't recall hearing about the cult of Bush in the MSM. Did I miss the 60 minutes coverage of the Kool-Aid drinking 24%? This is all part of the coming sh*t storm. Barack the 'shady Chicago socialist' and etc. I guess I will wait for the movie version.

1984 Kool-Aid Drinkers

Thu Nov 02, 2006 at 01:46:21 AM PDT

I have waited the past ten days for the outcry from rational conservatives, very much in vain. George W. Bush has finally lost it with, "Listen, we've never been stay the course, George (referring to George Stephanopoulos)." I keep waiting for the mass of rational people to stand up and scream, "Mr. President, we are not that stupid!" Even his political opponents seemed overwhelmed by the pure doublespeak.

Oh, god, here comes that Cheney kid again. Don't look!

Ooo, so sorry, Republican congressional candidates. Looks like George Bush and Dick Cheney have invited themselves into your campaigns. Meet your new running mates.

In Georgia, Bush drew sharp partisan distinctions as he belittled the opposition to the war, which is proving a powerful pro-Democrat issue: "The Democrat approach on Iraq comes down to this: The terrorists win, and America loses," he said.

Who's writing this guy's stuff, anyway? Howard Dean? `Cause it couldn't get much better for Dems.

Oh, wait, wait - yes, it could:

CA Lt. Gov: Candidate Jackie Speier...a Video

Mon May 29, 2006 at 12:20:21 PM PDT

I don't comment much on my blogs about California Politics as I think it's about as screwed up as it can get. I barely have time to keep up with the Federal issues and races much less the intercine warfare what seems routine in California.

On of the interesting aspects of California Elections is that you can have a Governor of one party, like Gov. Muscles, and a Lt. Governor of another like Cruz Bustamonte, a Democrat.

Consequently the race for Lt. Governor is no small chickenfeed race yet it gets small coverage and is usually won by the person with be greatest name recognition. I found a video for one candidate, State Senator Jackie Speier , that speaks to a character building horrific experience in her life. I encourage all California Kossacks to watch it. It may get you to go through her website more throughly and help you make a choice. It's done that for me.

The Video is on her site and at Political Interviews. I hope to get a phone interview this week.

Jim Jones and George Bush

Mon Nov 14, 2005 at 09:21:02 PM PDT

People get voted in people get voted out. What's the big deal? Politicians in power can be measured in dog years and politicians just like dogs can bite.
Some dogs can be trained while others are masterful at training their masters. Is it any wonder that some people take to being trained a lot better than others. How many of us drank Bush's Kool Aid?
To understand what the "Kool Aid" reference means, you have to go back to the jungles of Guyana Saturday, of November 18 1978, where a communal village had been built in the jungle in Northwest Guyana. The community was known as "Jonestown," the group was called "The People's Temple" and their leader was Reverend Jim Jones. By Sunday, Jim Jones and 913 of the 1100 people had died in a mass suicide.
